Phil Sims gave an educational presentation on the history of Oktoberfest. Steve Cook announced that Kyle Hotz will host an educational event at CC Homebrew Supply during the 1st week of each month. Details to follow. Tom Freund reminded us to start forming teams for November’s Iron Mash XV. He’ll pass around a sign-up sheet next month.
Mark served his usual wild game cornucopia – elk steak, nilgai summer sausage, nilgai rollups, venison rollups and elk sausage. Besides competition beers, we enjoyed new homebrews from Steve (patersbier Belgian single and Belgian blond), Paul (hefeweizen), Larry (“Throat Chop” IPA) and Scott Wilson (IPA). Commercial beers were shared by Chris Ackman (Independence High Boy Double IPA/Odell Cloud Cutter Milkshake IPA), Steve (Lakewood Hop Trapp Belgian IPA/Victory Golden Monkey), Tom (Boulevard Tasting Room Belgian-Style IPA), Aggie Bill Hughen (Prairie Artisan Ales Blueberry Boyfriend/Russian River Damnation Belgian Golden/Russian River Consecration/Rogue Marionberry Sour), Daniel Nutting (Shiner Oktoberfest) and Phil Sims (Coop Ale Works F5 IPA).
As the quaffing peaked, the usual stupid comments were overheard –
Paul – “The write-up that I read was scientifically beyond me”.
Wild Bill – “I’m the pivot man”.
Lou Needleman – “The service here sucks – I’ve got to get up off my fat ass”.
